A stock index tracks a basket of shares, such as the largest companies in a country. Trading an index CFD lets you take a view on a whole market with one position, instead of choosing individual companies.
Index CFDs have a spread and, on some accounts, commission. Holding a position overnight may incur financing. Index prices can gap at the market open, so allow for that when you size a trade.

Spreads and commissions are examples and vary by instrument. See each account page for the full terms.
Trading hours follow the underlying market, with extended hours on some products. Check each instrument’s hours in the platform.
Index CFDs may be adjusted for dividends of the constituent companies. Details are in the instrument specification.
Risk warning. Forex and CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Make sure you understand how they work and whether you can afford the high risk of losing your money.
