What is forex?

How forex trading works.

Forex is the exchange of one currency for another. You trade in pairs, such as EUR/USD, and you profit or lose as the exchange rate moves. It is the largest and most liquid financial market in the world.

  • Seven major pairs, such as EUR/USD, GBP/USD and USD/JPY
  • Minor pairs that exclude the US dollar, such as EUR/GBP
  • Exotic pairs that pair a major with an emerging-market currency

Costs

What it costs to trade.

Forex is priced in pips. The spread is the gap between the buy and sell price. Pro and VIP accounts add a small commission in return for tighter spreads. Positions held overnight may incur a financing charge or credit.
